Ridging your roof for a fine finish

Thatch ridging

Mike Bartlett & Sons offers a variety of ridge styling options for thatched buildings. We’re based in Fordingbridge, but we’re happy to travel across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the surrounding areas when it comes to undertaking work.
Ridges are an important part of a thatched roof. They maintain the structural integrity of your roof and also help to improve aesthetics. However, due to their position on a roof, ridges have to bear the brunt of the elements, and therefore need re-ridging every 8-12 years. Our team of roof thatchers can provide thatched re-ridges at competitive prices.
Many of our clients ask us “how do you know it’s time for a new ridge?” The signs are fairly easy to spot:
  • The ridge pattern looks out of shape or becomes loose
  • The wiring becomes loose
  • Missing spar work

Types of ridges we can install:

  • Embossed scallop and point
  • Scallop and point with an embossed middle
  • Straight cut with a centre pattern
  • Straight cut with a chimney detail
  • Scallop design
  • Thatched finials
  • Flush / Traditional ridge
  • Any other personal design
